St Mary’s College Mayenze has opened the third term with a renewed call for learners to combine faith, discipline and hard work as they prepare for the final stage of the 2026 academic year. The term began with a special Holy Mass that brought together students, teachers and the school administration to seek God’s guidance for the months ahead.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Simon Peter Okumu on Monday, September 21, 2026. During the service, prayers were offered for wisdom, good health, protection and success, with the school community committing the new term to God and asking for blessings in both academic and personal development.
Particular attention was given to Senior Four and Senior Six candidates who are facing their final examinations. The school prayed for the candidates to remain focused and disciplined as they enter this important period, while also asking God to give them wisdom, confidence and the ability to make responsible decisions.

The school leadership also used the occasion to challenge learners to take greater responsibility for their academic progress. Students were encouraged to develop a consistent reading culture, manage their time carefully, work closely with teachers and make good use of academic opportunities available to them.
The message was not limited to examinations, as learners were also reminded that education can open doors to different careers and opportunities. Among the fields highlighted were law, engineering, aviation, ministry and public service, with students encouraged to think about their future and begin building the discipline required to achieve their ambitions.
As part of the school’s efforts to promote academic competition and recognise hard work, students who performed exceptionally well in the recent mock examinations were rewarded. Each of the top performers received a Shs50,000 exemption from third-term school fees, giving the students recognition for their effort and encouraging them to maintain their performance.
The school encouraged other learners to treat the recognition as motivation rather than simply a reward for a few individuals. Students were reminded that improvement comes through regular revision, discipline, cooperation with teachers and making proper use of every available study period, especially with the end-of-year examinations approaching.
With prayer, academic preparation and recognition of outstanding performance taking centre stage, St Mary’s College Mayenze has entered the third term with a clear focus on helping learners finish the academic year strongly. The school leadership continues to emphasise the importance of nurturing students spiritually, academically and morally as they prepare for examinations and their future careers.
