The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Board and senior management have met with the Inspectorate of Government to discuss public concerns and identify ways of strengthening service delivery to Ugandans.

The delegation from the Inspectorate of Government was led by Deputy Inspector General of Government Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, who engaged NIRA officials on challenges affecting service delivery and possible areas of improvement.

During the meeting, NIRA highlighted its expanding national mandate and the staffing limitations it faces while providing identification and civil registration services to citizens across the country.
The discussions also addressed public concerns about customer care, accountability and the need for government institutions to respond promptly and effectively to the needs of the people they serve.

NIRA received candid feedback on areas that require improvement, providing an opportunity for the authority to assess its operations and consider measures to address complaints raised by members of the public.
Deputy Inspector General of Government Muhairwe acknowledged the importance of responding to citizens’ concerns and emphasised the need for public institutions to uphold accountability and remain committed to providing quality services.
The Inspectorate of Government’s Director of Legal Services also commended NIRA for the visible improvements in service delivery, recognising the progress the authority has made in carrying out its responsibilities.

NIRA reiterated its commitment to using public feedback to strengthen accountability, improve service standards and ensure that every Ugandan receives professional, timely and reliable identification and civil registration services.
