Children of the Word Ministry Donates 500 Sanitary Towels to Support Kabale Girls
Children of the Word Ministry has donated approximately 500 sanitary towels to Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament and founder of the ministry, Hon. Enid Origumisiriza, in support of her campaign to provide free sanitary pads to school-going girls across the district. The donation comes as Children of the Word Ministry prepares to mark 28 years of service, with the organisation choosing to use part of its anniversary activities to support children and communities through practical interventions.
Leaders said the initiative reflects the ministry’s long-standing commitment to improving the welfare and development of children.Speaking about the donation, Ainembabazi Danet said the ministry decided to support the sanitary pad campaign because menstrual hygiene plays an important role in the wellbeing and education of girls. She noted that access to sanitary products can help girls manage their menstrual periods with greater dignity while remaining focused on their studies.Danet added that the initiative fits into the ministry’s wider mission of creating a caring environment for children. Through mentorship and community programmes, the organisation seeks to guide young people, support their personal development and encourage them to recognise and build their abilities.
Reflecting on the ministry’s 28-year journey, Rubby Nimurungi said the anniversary provides an opportunity not only to celebrate the organisation’s achievements but also to give back to the communities it has served over the years. She said the sanitary towel donation was deliberately chosen because it responds to a practical challenge affecting some school-going girls.Nimurungi said Children of the Word Ministry believes children require both spiritual and practical support to reach their full potential. The ministry’s programmes include discipleship, mentorship, talent identification and development, as well as community outreaches aimed at giving children opportunities to learn, receive guidance and grow in a supportive environment.Receiving the donation, Hon. Enid Origumisiriza thanked Children of the Word Ministry for joining her campaign to make sanitary products available to girls who may struggle to afford them.
She said the 500 sanitary towels would help expand the campaign’s reach and called upon churches, organisations, businesses and well-wishers to contribute so that more girls in Kabale can benefit.Origumisiriza said menstrual hygiene support is important in creating conditions that allow girls to remain in school and participate fully in their education. The donation, she added, forms part of a broader effort to address the practical needs of learners, while Children of the Word Ministry continues its work with children and communities as it celebrates 28 years of service.
