The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has taken its Tax Katale campaign to Sembabule in the Masaka region, giving traders an opportunity to receive tax education directly from officers at their places of business.
Officers from the URA Masaka Domestic Taxes office conducted a door-to-door engagement, visiting businesses and speaking to owners about their tax responsibilities and the importance of maintaining compliance.

The approach brought tax education closer to traders, allowing them to ask questions, explain challenges they face and receive practical guidance on managing their tax affairs.
During the exercise, Tax Education Officer Derrick Walumbe engaged retail shop owner Fred Tumwebaze and emphasised the importance of keeping proper business records to enable taxpayers to establish their correct tax obligations.

Tax Education Officer Ivan Kamukama also encouraged small business owners to maintain regular contact with the Masaka Domestic Taxes station, where they can receive continued support and clarification on tax matters.
URA Commissioner General John Rujoki Musinguzi has emphasised the importance of taking tax education closer to taxpayers and helping businesses understand their obligations as part of efforts to strengthen voluntary compliance.

The Sembabule engagement is part of Tax Katale’s wider approach of taking taxpayer education into communities and directly engaging Uganda’s growing number of businesses.
By meeting traders at their workplaces, URA is creating direct channels through which business owners can access information, seek clarification and better understand how to meet their tax obligations.
