UCC Exposes School ICT Clubs To Technology And Innovation At Kiira Motors Ahead Of NCC2026
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has facilitated an educational visit for School ICT Clubs to Kiira Motors Corporation, giving learners a chance to discover how technology, computing and engineering are transforming Uganda’s manufacturing sector. The visit was conducted ahead of the 10th National Conference on Communications (NCC2026), which will be held on 24–25 September 2026 at Makerere University under the theme “Accelerating Market-Driven Research and Innovation for Uganda’s Development.
”During the tour, students explored the use of ICT systems in vehicle manufacturing, including automation technologies, sensors, computer-controlled systems and other digital solutions that support modern production processes.UCC said the engagement was designed to strengthen the connection between classroom learning and practical industry experience by exposing learners to real applications of technology. The visit also demonstrated the importance of collaboration between schools, universities and industries in building Uganda’s capacity in research, innovation and technological development.Students from the ICT Clubs interacted with professionals and gained knowledge about how engineering and computing skills are applied to create solutions in the automotive sector.UCC highlighted that such engagements inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics while helping them understand the opportunities available within Uganda’s innovation ecosystem.
The School ICT Clubs initiative continues to support digital skills development among learners by providing platforms where students can gain practical knowledge beyond the classroom. The upcoming NCC2026 will bring together experts, researchers, innovators, industry leaders and policymakers to discuss ways of accelerating technology-driven development in Uganda.Through partnerships with institutions such as Kiira Motors, UCC is promoting stronger links between education and industry to prepare young Ugandans for future opportunities in the digital economy.
